Strawberry Butter Fluff Dessert

This heavenly bit of loveliness is sure to make you the hit of your summer parties.
My family gobbled this up shamelessly the first night.

On the second night, the minute we got home from work
my 3-year-old son sidled up to me, aimed those pleaded big green eyes my way,
puckered up to give me a kiss (he knows mommy so well, lol)
and begged "Pleeeeeaaaassssse, Mommy,
can I have some of the strawberry dessert?
Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaassssssssse!"

And it really did take everything I had not to immediately
serve it up but I did manage to maintain and insist that
only after he ate his dinner.
And he very patiently (apparently it was a good day)
did eat every scrap of his dinner quite quickly
before darting back to the kitchen with an excited
"Now, Mommy?!"
and even proceeded to get dessert plates out
for the whole family while I sliced it.

He sat gobbling it up with a big grin on his face
while my daughter exclaimed this was surely a treat that must go on my blog.
He finished and went begging his daddy for a tiny bite more,
and after finagling a small piece of daddy's dessert,
he proceeded to aim what he knows is his cutest grin my way and exclaimed
"De-li-cious!"
as he shoveled another bite in.
And that is what I will think of every time I make this dessert
because it truly is "De-li-cious!"

Strawberry Butter Fluff Dessert
1 angel food cake
6 cups sliced strawberries
3 cups heavy whipping cream
1 stick butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Take your angel food cake and slice it into 3 layers -
I like to use a long bread loaf knife for this.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream at high speed
until it thickens to whipped cream.  Add 1/2 cup of the powdered sugar
and beat another minute.  In a separate mixing bowl, cream the butter.
Add 1 cup powdered sugar and the vanilla and beat until creamy.
Add the butter mix to the whipped cream mix and beat
until well combined but do not over beat.

On your cake plate, start with the bottom of the angel food cake.
Top with 1/3 of the fluff and a layer of strawberries.

Top with the middle of the angel food cake, pressing lightly.
Add another layer of fluff and strawberries.
Top with the top of the angel food cake and repeat with the fluff and strawberries.
Keep covered and refrigerated when not serving.
Keeps well refrigerated for a couple of days.
