Ladies Only Project Day
What do you do when you keep finding yourself saying you have too many projects to work on to get together with the girls? Well, my mom found the perfect solution - schedule a project day with the girls! We planned well ahead and found a Saturday when everyone was able to come with projects in tow and a couple of teenagers to babysit the little kids in the basement while we worked in projects.
My mom had the coffee and cinnamon rolls going for the girls to come any time after 9 a.m. For lunch she had homemade chicken soup going in the crockpot whenever people got hungry.
We spread out all over the kitchen island to start the projects. The dining room table was stretched to the max to make plenty of room for people to set up sewing machines or laptops or cut fabric. There was a lot of laughter, advice, frustrations, ideas and general silliness throughout the day. And a lot of progress made on projects. I brought an assortment of odds and ends I needed to finish up.
An ice skate bag that needed repair...
A teddy who needed his smile fixed...
A hat with a brim that needed mending...
That doll bed makeover I started at Christmas and ran out of time to finish...still a couple things to do before I show you the finished product...
Other brought everything from sewing projects to this rain barrel project. It was a fun way to spend a Saturday crossing some things off the list, helping each other on projects, talking about "mom" stuff and "women" stuff, enjoying some tasty food and just "being" together. Think about it the next time you find yourself saying you don't have time to visit with your friends!
