Weekend Wrap-Up

It was definitely a weekend of high's and low's as we enter into the busy fall here in Michigan.  We started bright and early at the local farmer's market and a run to the dollar store where we found all kinds of fun Halloween things for our annual family reunion.
Dropped the munchkins off to spend the night with my mom and headed to a funeral visitation for the father of my best girl friend.  We had not realized how sick he had been over the past year with cancer and an assortment of complications.  It is sad to realize we have come to an age where we will be losing more and more of our parents and grandparents.  We have been fortunate to have very healthy families and the majority of those who passed away even from health complications had lived very long lives.
After that, we headed off to Grand Rapids for a wedding in a most unique location - John Ball Park Zoo!

More pictures to come on all the fun little touches and easy decor ideas they had.  Besides the fun zoo animal statues in the ballroom that the wedding ceremony was held, there were several neat little things that made the wedding and reception unique to the couple.  We took the Funicular - a neat little tram - up a steep hillside until we were level with the skyline of Grand Rapids.  The reception was held in the Bissell Tree House reception building - so new it wasn't even done being built when they booked the wedding.  This beautiful location made for a great place to enjoy great food and music until the wee hours.  I think we made it home around 1:30 a.m.
The next morning we had the luxury of sleeping in (thanks, Mom, for not texting me at 6:30 a.m. when I know the kids woke you up!).  I picked up Little Man and we ran for groceries (and took a detour to find this awesome Power Rangers mask for his Halloween costume).
The Princess stayed with Grandma a little longer until my aunt picked her up for a special belated birthday lunch.  The hubster ran out to check the trail cameras and we all met back home (including my brother-in-law) in time for the Dallas Cowboys game.  That was a disappointment but we enjoyed snacking on some good food and hanging out.  Then kids in bed while we watched Big Brother and then hit the hay.  A gorgeous and typically busy fall weekend!
